Building on a recent successful deal in North Somerset, Mac Mic Group has secured a significant promotion agreement for a 56-acre site at Downend, Bridgwater. This agreement, involving a consortium of four landowners, paves the way for a new community of around 400 much-needed homes in a highly desirable location.
The site at Downend boasts excellent access to existing infrastructure and employment opportunities. Its proximity to Dunball, Junction 23 of the M5 motorway, and a park-and-ride facility for Hinkley Point nuclear power station positions it as an attractive proposition for residents. The plans for the site incorporate public open spaces, landscaping features and sustainable drainage systems.
Downend is strategically placed to benefit from the significant economic investment planned for the region. An upcoming £4 billion investment in the nearby Gravity Smart Campus by Agratas, part of the Tata Group, will see the construction of a "giga-factory" for electric vehicle battery production, is expected to create 4,000 new highly-skilled jobs.
Mac Mic Group acknowledges the key role played by Mark Chugg and Robert Baker of Greenslade Taylor Hunt, alongside Lyndon Brett of Lyndon Brett Partnership, in bringing this agreement to fruition.
Michael Gooch, Strategic Land Manager for the South West Region (pictured said:
“This is an exciting deal for the team and supports our continued growth in the South West. This strategically located site has the potential to deliver a scheme that will bring multiple benefits to the local area. These include new homes to meet local demand, much needed affordable housing and enhanced landscaping and green spaces, creating a place where people want to live.
“Downend offers great access to infrastructure and jobs, with its proximity to Dunball, the M5, and Hinkley Point. Downend's existing desirability is set to be further enhanced by the significant economic investment planned for the region, making it a prime location for future residents.”
