We are pleased to announce the submission of a revised planning application for a residential development in Hurst, Wokingham.
Following the dismissed appeal decision in March 2023, the new proposal focuses on delivering a highly sustainable and community-focused development comprising 99 homes, including a mix of two- to five-bedroom properties and significant open space.
The revised proposal addresses the previous concerns raised by the Planning Inspector to create a development that is better integrated into the local community. This scheme will bring forward many benefits for new and existing residents of Hurst and the surrounding area, including:
- Significant publicly accessible open space to include area of play and extension to existing allotments.
- Improved pedestrian connectivity between the east and west of Hurst.
- Support the delivery of the LCWIP (Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan) via a dedicated cycling / pedestrian route improving access to the station between Hurst and Twyford.
- Local bus service to serve the site and the wider community and on site bus stop.
- Considerably improved access to the Elizabeth Line and fast trains to London.
- Affordable housing (social rent and shared ownership).
Kari Burton, Mac Mic Group Senior Planning Manager – South East Region, said:
"We are excited to submit this revised application which reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable homes that meet the needs of the local community."
“The successful delivery of this proposal, with its excellent connectivity to the Elizabeth Line and London, will create opportunities for the people of Hurst, of all ages, providing new access to employment and leisure.”
“We believe this proposal offers a compelling vision for the future of Hurst and look forward to continuing working closely with the local community and planning authority to bring it to fruition."
Conor Roberts, Mac Mic Group Regional Land Director – South East Region, commented:
