The Mactaggart & Mickel Strategic Land Division, South East region, have agreed terms with a landowner that will pave the way for much-needed new homes in Hampshire.
Work has already started on promoting the land for more than 200 dwellings in Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council emerging Local Plan.
These homes are set to meet the soaring demand for new homes in Hampshire after the company came to an agreement with the landowner.
The 27-acre site in Sherborne St John, which is currently fallow farmland, provides an excellent opportunity to improve the facilities in Sherborne St John and connectivity to neighbouring Basingstoke town centre while increasing the number of much-needed homes built in the area.
Conor Roberts (pictured), Mactaggart & Mickel’s Senior Strategic Land Manager for the South East, said:
“We are delighted to have reached an agreement on the Sherborne St John site because it will help meet the growing demand for homes in the area.
“It has not been a straightforward journey as we have had to overcome some technical challenges, but we’ve worked hard to overcome those hurdles.
“We are certain a landscape led development will enhance the area and we have already started promoting it via the emerging Local Plan to maximise the potential of the site for future residents and nearby communities.”
Development of the site will be accompanied by a series of improvements to public transport and other community benefits.
Now Mactaggart & Mickel will continue to promote the site on behalf of the landowner and once planning has been achieved will sell the land on the open market to a housebuilder.
