Mactaggart & Mickel have responded to the need to tackle the West Midlands’ and Warwickshire’s housing requirements by taking the first steps towards securing a further new residential development opportunity within Warwickshire.
The company have entered a planning promotion agreement with a landowner in the Kingswood area after identifying a plot of land for the potential development of new homes to meet the counties’ future housing need for the area.
This agreement has paved the way for Mactaggart & Mickel’s strategic land division to guide the 24-acre site on family-owned farmland through the new joint planning process for Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils.
Mactaggart & Mickel’s move to secure land for residential development follows the West Midlands Combined Authority’s call for 215,000 new homes by 2031 to meet future housing demand and economic growth in the region and, additionally, the commencement of the South Warwickshire Local Plan.
The company’s strategic land division have struck a formal agreement with landowners after working with consultants to identify sites with the potential for residential development to meet the growing demands for new homes in and around Greater Birmingham and the surrounding counties.
The Kingswood site, off Station Lane, is considered appropriate by the Company due to its proximity to public transport, in particular the train station, which makes it an ideal location to be promoted and considered for future allocation for housing within the South Warwickshire Local Plan.
Nevin Holden, Mactaggart and Mickel Regional Manager South West for Strategic Land, said:
“With the demand for housing rising rapidly in the West Midlands and surrounding South Midland counties, I’m pleased that we have been able to identify land with the potential for much-needed residential development.
“We have used our expertise and experience to identify a location with the potential for new homes and the landowners have demonstrated that they share our vision by entering a long-term promotion agreement with Mactaggart & Mickel.
“In placing their faith in us, they have proved Mactaggart & Mickel is a name that landowners can trust and we are committed to working with the community and planners to carefully nurture a site that will complement the Kingswood area and help the West Midlands prosper.”
The Kingswood deal follows a series of successes for the Mactaggart & Mickel strategic land division within the South Midlands locality, focused on Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
The Mactaggart & Mickel Group recently celebrated a hat-trick with the London office striking three deals which have paved the way for approximately 600 new homes in the heart of the Thames Valley.
Mactaggart & Mickel have exchanged contracts on land in both Wokingham Borough Council and Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council's jurisdictions and terms have been agreed on an additional site in the Hampshire area with many more opportunities progressing positively.
This means that altogether some 100 acres of land in the Thames Valley have been secured by the Company which are set to provide hundreds of much-needed new homes in the area in the next three to five years.
